Naeemah Staggs

Naeemah is a native Washingtonian who now lives in the suburbs of Washington, DC with her husband and 8 year old daughter. She is a former licensed counselor who now focuses on a more macro approach to healing through training and consulting. In addition, Naeemah is an active member of Mocha Moms - the premiere voice for mothers of color. As the Founder of I Am FemspirationTM, a lifestyle brand committed to empowering women and girls, being a #GirlMom is what inspired Naeemah to become an author and inspire young minds to thrive.

1. What inspired you to write a children's book?

My writing journey was inspired by my daughter; as a Girl Mom it's super important for me to expose my daughter to her limitless potential. Writing is a way to share that not only with her, but others like her.

2. If you could tell yourself one affirmation as a kid, what would it be?

It's actually in the book: "Be bold and audacious, but never at the expense of your own well-being. It's okay not to be strong all the time. You are strong AND soft, courageous AND cautious and feeling AND fearless."

3. What's next for you as an author?

I am currently working on finishing another children's book. This book is also really special to me as I am co-authoring it with my best friends of over 40 years. The book will be the first in a series based on our childhood friendship.
