1. What inspired you to write a children's book?
As a child I have always loved reading. As a teacher my mission is to inspire that love of reading to every child that enters my classroom.Love Is Me was birthed out of the challenge in finding stories with black characters.I wanted to be apart of the solution in allowing our beautiful black and brown children to see themselves.
2. If you could tell yourself one affirmation as a kid, what would it be?
I am Enough is an affirmation that would've helped me and my insecurities as a child. I can remember the need to look lighter, have longer hair, and to just be different than what I saw in the mirror. I am Enough is a reminder to love and honor yourself.
3. What's next for you in your career?
My goal as an educator is to continue to grow and improve my skills. I commit to never stop learning to be the best most effective educator because life never stops teaching.
